Kangaroo or Cow Farts?

Kangaroos are part of the scientific genus Macropus and were widely thought to fart less than cows. So, scientist thought that putting Kangaroo gut bacteria into cows would lower their methane production. Dr. Adam Munn at the University of Wollongong put kangaroos in sealed rooms and measured their farting rate. He discovered that kangaroos fart as much as other animals their size.  Sadly, this likely means that there is no special bacteria in their guts that would be the key to lowering global warming. Instead, food passes through kangaroos very quickly and gets digested in the first stomach. This causes a farting rate that is similar to that of donkeys or horses that is not as special as previously thought.

Side note: since what I do no longer seems so interesting to write about, and I now read a lot, mama suggested that I write about something I've read that was interesting.  So, today's post was about kangaroo farts.
